Message from Cap'n Mike and Mate Sheila:

June 2008
This year we have shortened our summer cruise from four months to three. Sticker shock. The Euro is aproaching $1.60. When we started in 1999 it was less than a dollar. Also diesel is currently $7.40 in Greece and $8.60 in Turkey. More than a double. We know three months is pleanty of time to have a great time.

We will start in Preveza in northwest Greece, sail south, around the Peloponnese, up the east coast, past Athens and into the northern Aegean, then east to the islands off of Turkey, then south to Rhodes and finally into Turkey the final few weeks. We will keep Migration in Marmaris for the winter.

The Italians are invading Greece again. Wind Communications has introduced a pre-paid, broadband Internet access for a reasonable price. Hopefully this will translate into broadband on the boat.

We also are installing AIS (Automated Identification System). Ships are required to broadcast their data: name, speed, direction, destination, weight, and much more. This all pops up on our digital charting on the laptop screen. Much better than relying on the radar.

I have finally updated the Web site with 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 cruises. Both text and pictures. It provides so much pleasure reading and seeing and reliving so many wonderful memories. But untold hours!

Enjoy your summer!
Mike & Sheila
