Ship's Log

SPLIT TO SPLIT
August 10 to 17, 2006

Crew: Sadik & Frederique Gokturk and Al & Alice Wofford

August 10. Crew change took place this morning. Sadik first then Frederique, Al & Alice. Wonderful beginning with an early lunch and beers at Marina Kastela. After sailing back to Split we toured, dined and early to bed.

August 11. Sunny beautiful day. We enjoyed Mike's magnificent fresh brewed coffee and Frederique's brioche for breakfast she hand carried all the way from her hometown in France. Toured Diocletian's Palace, market place, purchased beautiful fruit/vegetables and (oops) non-alcoholic beer. Had the best pizza ever within the palace walls. Bob Wilson & Barbara Jagiello joined us for cocktails from their boat moored nearby. She has her own legal practice in San Francisco. He is a retired contractor. They, after sailing the entire Med, then Croatia for ten years, believe it is the best.

August 12. Morning sky threatened. After a quick shop for food and wine essentials we enjoyed a quick eight knot, six hour sail to Zlarin. Barbara Jagiello especially recomended Zlarin for coral shopping. We dined on on board: Spaghetti, greens, garlic bread and flowing wine. Most convivial. Thank you dear Mike & Sheila for all of this.

August 13. Sheila, who dedicates so many hours to shopping and who seems to hesitate at the point of buying, was taken aback by Mike who bought himself a gorgeous red coral necklace. After walking through town he admitted he caught a number of obvious glances from the local women and handed it over to Sheila. She has worn it proudly ever since.

August 14. Skradin & Krka National Park. Fresh water swimming and a spectacular full moon.

August 15. Our week is almost over. We shared a lot of happiness together including food and drink. Occasionally inhibiting graceful display disembarking the dinghy onto Migration! The important thing is to return home with a lot of sunshine in our bags. Thank you Cap'n Mike & Sheila for giving us all most unique souvenirs. And medieval Trogir is a must-see.
